A woman of color in her early 60’s who is bothered by a total split of her left earlobe and a partial split of her right earlobe. She is shown before and again, 2 months after repair in the office. Scars tend to fade faster in our 60’s than they do in our 20’s and her scars already are ahead of schedule and fading nicely- more than we might see for a younger patient at this time.

A woman in her early 50’s with a single split of her right ear, and a double split of her left ear, which have been repaired once in the past but re-split. She has watched my video on how patients split their earlobes and feels that she has had a nickel allergy as the cause, as well as sleeping with the earrings in. She is shown before and again 3 ½ months after repair and just after repiercing.

A woman in her late 50’s with a complete tear of her left earlobe for years, most likely from sleeping with her earrings in. She had a double piercing of the right earl as well, with an initial piercing which was in a “training spot” but was not central in the earlobe and then another piercing which was placed very close to the first. She has drooping of both ears, and double piercings of the right ear which are with-in a few mm of each other.
She had a bilateral earlobe lift with a wedge removed from each earlobe. The right wedge was designed to remove the double piercings as well as correcting the drooping of the earlobe. She is shown 3 months after repair and again, immediately after re-piercing in the office.

A woman in her mid 20’s with a split of each earlobe who likes to wear 2 earrings in each ear. She is shown before and again, 3 months after repair, and again, just after re-piercing her ears in the office. Scars typically get redder and thicker for 6 weeks and then begin to fade and improve over the next 2 years. At 3 months most patients earlobes have settled enough to be re-pierced.

A nurse with a double split of her left ear. She is shown before and again, 3 months after a keystone lift/double cleft repair. Patients of color are more prone to thicker than normal scars but she has healed well. We can expect the scar to continue to fade and improve over the next 2 years. I encourage my patients to protect the incisions from the sun to decrease the change of it becoming darker (“post inflammatory hyperpigmentation)
