A woman in her early 40’s with a nearly complete “split” or cleft of her left earlobe. She is shown just before repair in the office under local anesthesia. Her ear is shown again, 4 months after repair and just before re-piercing in the office.

A woman in her early 20’s with a double cleft of the ear lobe. She is shown at the time of repair under local in the office, and again, 3 months later when getting her ear re-pierced in the office.

A student in her late teens who is bothered by a double split or double cleft of her right ear lobe where her heavy ear rings had torn through in the past. We were able to repair her ear in one sitting under local anesthesia in the office. She is shown before and again, 3 months after her repair when she returned to have her ear re-pierced (with a single piercing this time). Although scars will continue to fade and improve over the next 2 years, she is thrilled to have a normal appearance of her ear lobe and to be able to wear her earring again.

A woman in her early 60’s who is bothered by a double split of her left ear as well as drooping of the earlobe. She had had a total of 4 separate piercings on the is ear. Sometimes this correction requires 2 separate procedures if the skin bridge is narrow, but we were able to correct hers in one stage as I rotated the flap up to replace the missing tissue and elevate the drooping earlobe. She is shown before and again, 9 weeks after her repair. Scars will typically continue to fade and improve over the next 2 years but she is already thrilled with the correction and is getting her ear re-pierced ( with a single hole this time!)

A young woman in her late teens who had stretched her ear lobes with ear gauges. Despite removing the gauges, she still had an unsightly appearance of her ear lobes, which was interfering with her modeling career. She is shown just 6 weeks after her “inverted t platy” repair in the office under local. The scars are at there thickest at 6 weeks, but already her earlobes have regained a normal appearance. She will where pressure clip earrings to help flatten the scars, and we can re-pierce her ears for her to wear normal pierced earrings in 3 months.

A professional woman still working in her early 70’s who is troubled by “floppiness” of her earlobes as she has aged. She is shown again, 6 weeks after an “ear lobe lift”. I find that many women that I see in the Boston area are bothered by an aged appearance of the ear lobes, and are pleased to find out that it can be easily treated with a relatively simple procedure under local anesthesia in the office. Although scars typically look their worst at 6 weeks, she is already thrilled with how they look. We will typically wait 3 months to re-pierce the ear lobes to allow the skin to become stronger.

A woman in her late 50’s with a cleft earlobe after earrings stretched and eventually tore through the skin. She has a complete cleft of the earlobe and drooping of the earlobe. She is shown again, 4 months after repair, and just before re-piercing of the ear in the office.

A woman in her mid 60’s who is troubled by looseness and drooping of her ear lobes. She is shown again, 7 months after an “ear lobe lift” done under local anesthesia in the office. Typically we will re-pierce the ears in 3 months time, but her travel schedule delayed this. She is pleased with the more youthful appearance of her ear lobes from a relatively simple procedure in the office.

An RN in her early 60’s was troubled by a split earlobe or “cleft” ear lobe. As she has aged, her earlobes have also drooped, giving them a more aged appearance. A nice procedure under local anesthesia in the office is an “ear lobe lift” which corrects both problems. The ear lobe is swung back and forth past an imaginary point in the midline to mark the excess earlobe, which is then removed at the time of correction. She is shown again at 3 months, just before repiercing her earlobes in the office. She is thrilled by the correction with this simple procedure.

A professional in her mid 30’s who is bothered by a crooked nose, dorsal hump, difficulty breathing. On examination she was noted to have significant deviation of the septum as well as vestibular stenosis. Vestibular stenosis is the collapse of the nose when someone breathes in that takes place at the “nasal valve” area and is often temporarily improved with “Breath rite” strips. She was also noted on exam to have a “weak chin”. The chin falls behind an imaginary line that touches the upper and lower lips. She is shown before and again,4 months after an open rhinoplasty with correction of the vestibular stenosis by placing “spreader grafts”, a match stick shaped piece of the septal cartilage. She also had a medium chin implant placed. She is thrilled with her early improvement, and no longer has obstruction of her breathing. Her husband notes that she no longer snores at night. The nasal tip will continue to gain refinement over the next 2 1/2 years. The slight pinkness of her nose is a sunburn from the weekend.
