A man in his later 90’s who has a basal cell carcinoma of his left lower eyelid as well as senile ectropion- a drooping of the lower eyelid with age.
He is shown before, immediately after Moh’s excision and again, 4 months after repair of his defect and senile ectropion with a lateral tarsal wedge combined with an orbicular pennant flap.
He did not want surgery on his right lower eyelid.

A 75 yo man is shown just after slow mohs excision of a melanoma in situ of his left nose, leaving him with a 1.5 cm defect and again 1 year after a composite graft from his left nasolabial crease. Although the texture and color match are not typically as good seen with a flap, he wished to avoid a more complicated procedure or series of procedures. He is pleased with the contour and appearance of his nose following his surgery, and the donor site along the nasolabial (line between the lip and cheek) crease has also healed well.

A 47 yo woman is shown just after Moh’s excision of a Basal Cell Carcinoma of her lip and again 4 1/2 months after repair with a paranasal advancement flap. A relatively normal appearance is obtained despite the large size of the cancer.

A 71 yo man shown just after Moh’s excision of a Basal Cell Carcinoma of his nose with a 1.1cm defect, and nearly 6 months after an extended composite ear cartilage and skin graft. Scars will typically continue to fade for up to two years. The cartilage in the graft prevented retraction (“pulling up”) of the nasal rim from the contracting forces of healing. Although the skin of the composite graft did not “take” perfectly as is frequently the case, this allowed him to have a simpler procedure and still obtain a good result.

86 year old woman with complex defect of the right cheek, right upper lip and nose, including loss of the nasal lining following Moh’s excision of a Basal Cell Carcinoma which had been initially diagnosed in 2002, but the patient had neglected for 6 years. She is shown 5 months after the final stage of her staged reconstruction with a forehead pedicle flap to her nose, advancement flap to her cheek and skin graft to the upper lip. A good early result is obtained.

58 year old man shown immediately following Mohs’ excision of Basal Cell Carcinoma of his left Ala, and again 13 months after final stage of staged reconstruction of his left ala with forehead flap and ear cartilage graft.

75 yo woman shown immediately following Moh’s excision of a Basal Cell Carcinoma of her left cheek, and now 4 1/2 months after v-y island flap repair. Scars typically improve for up to 2 years after surgery.

A 61 yo woman is shown just after Moh’s excision of a trichoepitheloma of her nose, and again 4 1/2 months after composite skin/fat graft. Her result is better than expected.

A 77 yo woman is shown before and after a 2 stage flap reconstruction of her nose following Moh’s excision of a Basal Cell Carcinoma that crossed 2 aesthetic subunits (visual areas). A natural appearance was obtained following surgery.
