An RN and mother of one in her early 30’s who never had proper breast development. She describes herself as a 32 A cup and wanted to be a C cup if possible but still natural in appearance. She is 5’2” and 123 lbs. She has a pectus excavatum ( a depressed area at her sternum). She is shown before and again, 4 ½ month after bilateral breast augmentation with 350 high profile cohesive gel micro-textured silicone gel implants placed below the pectoralis muscle through an infra mammary incision.
Discussion: The pectus excavatum can be a challenge because we don’t want the implants to crowd the cleavage area and appear unnatural. So it is critical to size the implants properly as to the width. She did not mind a slight implant look so a high profile implant allowed a little more volume per the same base width of the implant. One risk with the chest sloping down towards the sternum is that the implants can shift towards the middle with time- so in her case the tradeoff of texture favored texture to better stabilize the implants. The micro texture does not appear to have the same risks of secondary seroma, double capsules and BIA_ALCL as the more aggressively textured implants so it gives us the benefits without as much of these risks. She is thrilled with the natural appearance of her chest and happy now to fill comfortable in a bathing suit and with her shirt off.
